Hey everyone! Sorry I’ve haven’t posted in so long!  How have you all been? 5 Steps to Rambunctious Ramen

How to Make Your Ramen Noodles More Interesting

What’s better than one pack of Ramen noodles? Two packs of Ramen noodles!  Now that’s what I call oodles of noodles(insert laugh track here).  There are so many ways to make these noodles.  It’s like eating a different meal every time you eat them.  It’s ridiculously awesome.  So why would you eat boring noodles when you can have awesome noodles?!  

Here are 5 ways to jazz-up your next bowl of Ramen:

1.)  Add seasonings.  Add whatever seasonings you eat at home!  Use the seasoning packet and your extra seasonings.  Not only will it taste less synthetic, it will also make your noodles special.  Special noodles are happy noodles and happy noodles taste better.  I recommend adding a bit of garlic power with a tiny amount of basil.

2.) Add shrimp.  If you want your noodles to be more of a meal than a snack, this is a quick, easy, and cheap way to make dinner.  If the shrimp are frozen, thaw them out, season them, and saute them in pan over medium heat.

3.) Add veggies.  A simple can of mixed vegetables will work wonderfully for this step.  Now you can enjoy the deliciousness that is Ramen noodles AND get those nutrients that Mom is always telling you about.  You could combine veggies, shrimp, and seasonings to make a very interesting, yummy combo

4.) Make Spaghetti.  Tired or using that same chicken, shrimp, and beef flavors?  Then I have the answer: Use your noodles and noodles and save the flavor packet for later.  Check out my recipe for spaghetti using ramen noodles!

5.) Add friends.  Have a noodle party!  Invite a few friends over and enjoy your snacks.  Food always(mostly) tastes better when you’re sharing it with friends. Don’t literally add you friends to you noodles though.  That wouldn’t taste very good.

Eggs in a Nest

First, I must say that this recipe is egg-cellent.  I know egg puns are cheesy, but I couldn’t resist the temptation to tell one, just like I can’t resist the temptation of this dish.  What could possibly be more fulfilling than eating a warm piece of whole wheat toast and a superbly scrambled egg in the morning?  Nothing…except this recipe.  This is a little recipe appropriately named Eggs in a Nest.  It combines eggs and toast with a bit of olive oil into one fun-filled party of awesomeness.  When they are together the world is happy because they are perfect together and they want to be together.  So, why not just put them into one super quick, super amazing dish?  

Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

snack foods1 egg

1 slice of whole wheat bread

2 tsp Olive oil

Salt and Pepper(optional)

Instructions

1.) Crack egg into bowl and beat with fork.  Add salt and pepper to taste

2.) Use a cookie cutter or cup to cup hole or shape out of middle of the bread

3.) Heat olive oil in pan over medium heat. Put bread on pan and pour egg into the hole. When egg sets on one side, flip entire thing.  Transfer to plate

4.) Cook bread cut out on both sides in pan

5.) Enjoy!

Attack of the Cheese Sandwiches!

Grilled Cheese Quesadilla Sandwiches

Aren’t quesadillas just fancy, flatbread grilled cheese sandwiches?  They both have cheese on the inside with some sort of bread-like matter on the outside.  They’re both also very delicious, or should I say delicioso? You won’t have to spend much cheddar on these ingredients.(See what I did there? Yea, my jokes are cheesy)  So, for those days when you’re tortilla-less, but you want a quesadilla, you can make this recipe.

Time: 20-30 minutes

Makes 2 sandwiches

Ingredients

2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

salt, pepper, seasoned salt, pepper, garlic powder

4 slices of bread

1 slice of cheddar cheese or 1 c of shredded cheddar

1 green onion

2 tbsp of butter

Instructions 

1.) Cut chicken into slices and saute in pan over medium heat.  Season the slices. Cut cooked chicken into cubes.

2.) Rinse green onions.  Cut them into 1/4 in thick ringssnack foods

3.) Heat pan over medium heat.  Butter one side of a slice of bread and place it onto the pan with buttered side down.

4.) Add 1 slice or 1/2 c of shredded cheese on bread.  Then add 1/2 of the green onion rings and 1/2 of the chicken.

5.) Butter one side of another slice of bread.  Place it on top (buttered side facing up) of other slice.

6.) Grill until brown, then flip.  They are done when the cheese is melted and the bread is brown.

7.) Repeat steps 3-6 for the other sandwich

Extra: You can serve these sandwiches with sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, and extra shredded cheese.

The Secret Sauce: Spalsa

snack foodsCan’t decide on whether to make spaghetti or chips and salsa? Well now with this secret sauce, you don’t have to have this debate with yourself anymore.  I’m not talking about the secret Krabby Patty sauce from Spongebob.  I’m talking about a special secret sauce.  A sauce that’s so saucy, it’s like two sauces in one.  In fact, that is exactly what it is: two different sauces in one.  The name spalsa comes from spaghetti and salsa.  So, I guess the secret is out, but that’s okay because when you taste the sauce, you’ll want to tell all of your friends, enemies, neighbors, and pets.  If the secret was still a secret, no one would know the astonishing amazing-ness of this recipe.  If you have chips or noodles and left over taco seasoning from a taco kit, you can experience the goodness of spalsa.  Maybe you could use this sauce for your spaghetti from my post Simple, Speedy Spaghetti.

Time: 20-30 minutes

Ingredients

14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes

salt, seasoned salt, pepper, garlic powder

1.25 taco seasoning packet

1 lb of noodles

1 bag of tortilla chips

1/2 lb ground beef(optional)

Instructions

1.) *Brown beef and season with seasonings to taste*

2.) At same time, boil and drain noodles

3.) Heat separate pan over medium heat, pour tomatoes in and heat until simmering

4.) Season tomatoes with the salt, seasoned salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Put in about 1/2 of the taco seasoning from the packet. Stir well

5.) *Pour over meat, stir* and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until everything is soft and blends in together.

6.) Pour over noodles or serve in bowl with chips

7.) Enjoy your spalsa!

Extra: If you are using this as spaghetti, you can serve it with parmesan cheese.  If you are serving as salsa, you can serve it with shredded cheddar cheese.  If you have left-overs, you can decide whether you want to use the spalsa as spaghetti sauce or salsa the next day.

*Skip this step if not using beef
